Individual Tube Offerings
The form is used to add information describing your Tube Offering.
The Steel Type, Dimensions, Pieces, Description, Weight, Price, Tag No and Location fields are used to describe each of your Tube offerings. The Steel Type, Dimensions, Weight and Location are required fields. Dimensions is in inches and can be specified as a decimal or fraction. The Shape will be determined by the Dimensions. Location is where the Tube is physically located. The city and state abbreviation (or city and province abbreviation, if Canada) is separated by a comma. Units for the Price, unless otherwise identified, is US$ per foot. Any information about your Tube goes in the Description field.
Multiple Tube Offerings
A Tube supplier can also add, edit and remove Tube offerings by uploading an Excel spreadsheet containing descriptions of his Tube offerings. Each offering is described on a single row. Steel Spider reads the file a row at a time and adds the offerings to our Inventory automatically. The location and order of columns containing the data about each offering determines how the file is processed. The supplier provides a file with the layout defined by the supplier. This supplier defined layout file is usually a file that the supplier is already preparing or is easily exported from the suppliers inventory database. It is usually an Excel file. Under certain circumstances we can handle a text file or an Adobe .pdf file.
Supplier Specified Column Layout Excel File (or Text File) - Automatic Data Entry Process
If you are considering using this Automatic Data Entry Process you need to
Register first and then attach your Tube inventory file to
info@steelspider.com. We need to set-up the site to recognize the layout and other information about your file before you an use this. There is no charge to set this up and we provide a free trial period so you can evaluate using this method for adding your Tube Offerings to the Inventory.
The file format can be Excel but in some cases we can handle Text, Word or Adobe PDF. Send what you use internally. We will test the processing of the file on the site so we can recommend the simplest way to add your Tube and walk you through the process. If your company uses codes or abbreviations, such as for location or grades, let us know what the codes represent and we can set up the site to recognize these and replace them with alternative terms that describe your Tube. You can keep the codes in your file and will not need to convert them. This makes it possible for us to handle your inventory data without you having to do much "clean up" of the data. Using this method of providing your Tube offerings also lets us do more to tailor how your offerings appear and provide more information than is available with the other methods. For example if your have pictures of your Tube offering on your website, we can include a link to the applicable picture with the offering.
Scroll to the bottom of this page for Automatic Data Entry.
On this page you can add your Tube offerings to the Inventory along with the Tube of other suppliers so that buyers can search for needed Tube. You can also change or remove your Offerings in the Inventory here.
Buyers will receive an email notification of any new Tube offerings added to the Inventory if they have signed up to
Receive Tube Offerings for Tube. In
Receive Tube Offerings a buyer can specify which Tube Offerings he wants to be notified about by email by specifying Steel Type, Thickness, Shape or distance requirements.
We have provided two methods for adding your Tube Offerings to the searchable Inventory. The first is to add each Tube Offering separately. The second involves uploading an Excel file to add multiple Tube Offerings automatically using a layout of your choosing. These methods are briefly described below and described in more detail in the
Show Help for this Page link above.
You need to periodically update your Tube offerings to ensure that your Tube being advertised is still available. If you
haven't returned to this page to check on your tube for 30 days we will email you a reminder to update your tube or
confirm your tube's continued availability. If no confirmation is received, we will remove your tube.
Add/Change/Remove Multiple Tube Offerings - Automatic Data Entry
Some suppliers may find it easier and faster to automate the process of providing your Tube offerings. To add your Tube Offerings you upload an Excel file with information describing each Tube on a single row. The uploaded file is processed and automatically added to the Inventory. The Layout of the uploaded file needs to be defined so the site knows where the appropriate information can be found. Our goal if for you to provide a file with a layout that is easiest for you to prepare. We tailor the automation process to handle your layout. A walk-through describing the options for handling Multiple Tube Offerings is provided in
Show Help for this Page above. To add, edit or remove your Tube Offerings when you upload subsequent files we remove the Tube from a previous file and replace it with the Tube in the current file.
Below is a listing of the files that have been setup to use with the Automatic Data Entry process.
When you upload your tube here, only the tube from your file will be displayed in the grid above so you can edit or delete individual items. Tube you add using the grid ("+ Add Your Tube to the Multi-Supplier Inventory") or with a file using the Steel Spider Specified Column Layout will not be displayed at this time. A button will appear at the top right of the grid that will let you view and edit all your tube on the site if other methods were used to add Tube to the Inventory.
