Juergen Schachler was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal Dofasco Inc. on May 1, 2007.
Mr. Schachler is a graduate of the Universitat Hannover in Germany, where he specialized in Management, Economics and Finance.
He began his career with one of Germany's leading banks, and has held senior positions in both the chemical industry and the steel processing industry.
In 1993, he joined Sprint Metal Edelstahlziehereien, a member company of one of the predecessors of ArcelorMittal, as C.E.O. In 1999, Mr. Schachler was appointed C.E.O. of Techalloy Company Inc. and was a member of the board of directors of its affiliated company
Trefilados Inoxidables de Mexico. Mr. Schachler was also C.E.O. of Thainox Steel Limited in Thailand.
Immediately prior to his appointment at ArcelorMittal Dofasco, Mr. Schachler was Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal Eisenhuttenstadt in Germany.
Mr. Schachler is Chair of the Board of the Canadian Steel Producers' Association and on the board of directors of the American Iron and Steel Institute. He is Co-Chair of the Board of the Canadian Steel Trade and Employment Congress (CSTEC). Mr. Schachler is
a member of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, the Ontario Manufacturing Council, and participates in various community initiatives
