After you have uploaded your file, describe your item and specify the parameters
for the auction:
- Select the File uploaded during the Automatic Data Entry Process.
- Select the Form and Type of Steel.
- Provide a Brief Description of your Auction.
- Identify the location or delivery point.
- Specify the parameters that define your auction such as the date and time the bidding
ends
- Identify who can bid from your personal Contact List.
Select the Form and Type of Steel - When you select the Form and
Type of Steel that is the subject of your Auction, we identify which buyers using
Steel Spider have indicated an interest in receiving a Notification for the form
and type selected. If you elect to make you auction visible to all then you can
send notifications to these buyers.
Brief Description of your Auction - The description of your Auction
should contain a brief description of the items you are selling. After the parameters
have been saved, you can also include up to three files to provide more information
about your auction.
Identify the location or delivery point - This helps the buyer
determine whether distance is a factor regarding the steel in question.
Identify the authorized bidders. - This is where you identify who
can bid. Add the email addresses of authorized bidders to your personal Contact
List in Personalize. Create a new Group and add those in your Contact List who can
bid to this Group. Then select this group below as the Approved Bidder Group. You
can set up an auction to be visible without selecting an Approved Group but no one
will be able to bid until you add them to a Group in your Contact List and return
to this page and select the appropriate Group as the Approved Group.
Set the Minimum Acceptable bids.
Before you can run the Auction and after you have defined the auction parameters
you need to set the minimum price you will accept to sell each item. A list of all
the items will be displayed. Fill in the minimum Acceptable Bid for each item. When
the auction is run the Current Bid will be your Minimum Acceptable Bid less the
Minimum Bid Increment. The bidder will need to bid your Minimum Acceptable Bid or
higher to become the high bidder.
Optional Items.
You can provide files to supplement your description of the auction.
Attach Files - You can attach Text (.txt), Adobe (.pdf), Excel
(.xls or .csv), Word (.doc) and picture (.jpg and .gif) files to provide further
information about your Auction. The page after you save your Auction Parameters
lets you upload up to three files. Press the Browse button and select the file on
your computer. Press Save to close the window and the filename should appear in
the box next to the Browse button. Provide a name describing the file that will
become a link a buyer can click to see the file. Press Change Files to send it to
Steel Spider.
When your auction is setup, you can have Steel Spider send Auction Notices for you.
Send Auction Notification - After your auction has been set-up,
there will be a list for your Auctions. If an auction is running, you can click
on the Notify link next to the auction and then elect whether Steel Spider should
send emails to notify your approved bidders of your auction. If any of the bidders
in your contact list have not registered, the email notification will contain a
statement that they need to register in order to bid. The auction notification If
your Auction is publicly visible, a Notification can also to go to all the buyers
on Steel Spider who have indicated an interest in receiving an Auction Notification.
You can restrict this list to those buyers located within a certain distance from
a Zip or Postal Code.
Start the Auction - After the parameters have been set up and the reserve prices
have been set you can start the auction. If the Auction has not started, only the
seller can view the Auction in Enter an Auction. If you stop the auction and restart,
bids already submitted are lost.
After the bidding period ends, go to Enter an Auction to view the results of your
auction. Results for completed Auctions will be visible to the seller and the approved
bidders for two days after the bidding period ends.
